Dr. John Kanca lll
Dr. Kanca is a revolutionary in the field of dentin adhesion. Up to about 10 years ago, it was widely held that acid etching of dentin would irreversibly injure the pulp. His research and clinical efforts showed that acid treatment of dentin was not harmful to the pulp, and he was instrumental in persuading manufacturers to include etchants in dentin bonding kits. He reported the first high shear bond strengths to acid-treated dentin, and is the discoverer of the technique known as “wet-bonding.” Much of his recent work focuses on reducing polymerization stresses, and development of the technique known as “pulse activation.”
